Fajãs do Cabo Girão: Report on the mangoes that grow down there by the sea

We tried, but we couldn’t imagine what it would be like to climb 1,100 steps, a steep rock face above it, carrying heavy bags on our backs. And yet it was like that for a long time. The first settlers on Madeira Island soon realized that the Fajãs, these narrow pieces of land by the sea, were among the most fertile areas of the entire area. Reaching them was anything but easy. But it was worth it.
