Liliana Cá breaks national record for disc release | athletics

Athlete Liliana Cá broke the national record at the start of the target this Saturday when she reached 66.40 meters in the start observation tests held in Leiria.

The 34-year-old New Lights Sports Association athlete surpassed the previous record of Teresa Machado (65.40 meters) since 1998, who died of an extended illness in February 2020.

“I knew that I was fine and that it would be possible to break the national record, but I did not expect to reach 66 meters,” said the athlete in statements from the Portuguese Athletics Federation, saying that she was “happy “Be and satisfied” with the result.

Liliana Cá is one of the athletes who has already secured her participation in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, which will be held between July 23 and August 8, 2021, after being postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
