The blind spot in our debate about schools opinion

It has never been easier to give both sides of a debate a reason than what we had about closing schools. Those who point out the dire long-term effects of school closings on our children and youth are absolutely right because of learning delays and, in particular, the growing inequalities that this closure brings. Still, those who remember that there is a short-term need to control a pandemic and that more people should not die must be remembered – and that closing schools is a measure that cannot be ruled out.
