Science and Pandemic Opinion

I am neither a virologist, nor a doctor, nor related to the health sector, I am an English agronomist, I studied biology, of course, and I believe 100% in the scientific method. I also firmly believe that a large part of the negative impact we have seen at all levels (social, environmental, economic) has been exacerbated by the sharp divide between science and politics.

This is also an issue that is increasingly debated: the need to define public policies based on scientific evidence. It’s getting more and more important and apparently consensual. But as the saying goes, appearances are deceiving; One hears that the voice of science seems to decide on the basis of scientific knowledge, but in reality the political impact weighs more in the final decision.

Citizens will like the decision or not, so they will vote on how later? It is important to forget about the vows and think about the future!

The pandemic ended our lives, it was completely unpredictable and although it has apparently been predictable since December 2019, it seems oddly enough to remain unpredictable. And that’s strange!

Ask a virologist if a virus has mutated, possibly even a biology student. The answer is “yes”! Without hesitation! Take the flu and the flu vaccine as an example!

Where is the dismay about the mutations or how long does the vaccine protect us? It is expected!

From everything we didn’t know, and there was a lot of how to deal with a pandemic outbreak this size, this was an issue that didn’t leave a lot of doubts: the virus was going to mutate!

It is exhausting to hear about the new mutations with amazement and shock every day! It is exhausting to hear about the 3rd wave every day, with astonishment and a beginning!

I think it was known that the virus would become endemic, that it shouldn’t go away, on the contrary, it should mutate! And there are regular meetings with scientists, and certainly all of this is said, as clear as water, this was the known in the middle of the unknown!

Aside from the limitation that seems important, in addition to economic support, which is more of a placebo because it is scarce and late, measures have been taken to avoid the psychological, economic, social and educational chaos of the youngest families suffering from the eldest ?

Then, a year later, why are we almost exactly where we were a year ago? Exactly not, much poorer, with many more people in desperation, with a society that is economically and psychologically very affected and partly because it has suddenly taken away the possibility of affection. And that is not talked about!

Aside from the limitation that seems important, in addition to economic support, which is more of a placebo because it is scarce and late, measures have been taken to avoid the psychological, economic, social and educational chaos of the youngest families suffering from the eldest ?

There will be? I can not find! Different job offers were to be expected. The only solution, which so far has been more or less efficient, seems to be to close, to close, to close when it should have foreseen, foreseen, foreseen.

To predict this, science-based analysis is required. The value of science is to understand the past, but above all to prepare the future!
