Adorable Adopt-ee for FEBRUARY

‘Sir Purrsalot’
When this kitty came into rescue, there was no question what his name should be: the moment we came close to him, he began purring. He purrs whenever somebody is near him. He purrs when you are holding him. He purrs to thank you for his food. He purrs after a play session. He is a purring machine. ![]()
So his name became Sir Purrsalot. He is a regal cat with a loving personality.
He’s a chatterbox. He follows you around the house, meowing, and chirping, and purring. He loves hanging out on the window sill, watching the world go by. But he really loves being held, or sitting next to you on the sofa. We think he may have some Maine Coon in his heritage because of the way he talks and chirps, but his coat is absolute silk, like a Turkish Angora. Regardless of his heritage, this is one beautiful, loving cat.
But he has a special need. Sir Purrsalot has a chronic sinus problem. We have had him to various vets, he has been on numerous medications; the problem eventually comes back. He may go for weeks without any problem, then suddenly begins sneezing. And sneezes and sneezes, sometimes 6 or 8 sneezes at a time. (which also produces some yucky nasal discharge).
We know there is somebody out there, looking for a great family cat, that will love and care for this big handsome guy, who will provide the needed vet care, who will wipe his nose (!) when needed. Sir Purrsalot deserves a loving home to suit his loving personality. He’s great “people cat” but does not like other animals. If you’re not serious about adopting him, don’t even make an appointment to see him, because once you see him, hold him in your arms, listen to him purr…….you’re a goner
:~)

Adorable Adopt-ee for JANUARY

Oreo is a sweet kitty with a sweet name. He has distinctive markings which make you think of a yummy cookie:)
He’s a social boy, loves everyone he meets. He does get along ok with other cats, but would prefer to be your ‘one and only’.
Oreo is an Attention Hog! He doesn’t want to share, he wants his very own guardian.
When visiting him at his foster home, I was greeted by several cats, but Oreo managed to push his way to the front of the pack and convince me to pick him up and love him.
What a guy!
Oreo is a long, lean cat with a handsome coat and a big fluffy tail. He is neutered and current on his vaccinations. He’d love to ring in the new year with you. Can Oreo be your ‘one and only’? Rescue pets make The Best Companions.

Adorable Adopt-ee for December – ‘Rabbit’
December 1, 2011 by Valley Bugler · Leave a Comment

Rabbit will win your heart the moment you pick him up. He’s a ‘quick kisser’, and loves to cuddle. He’s happiest snuggled in your arms, and when you put him down, he looks at you with those big brown eyes as if to say ‘what? what did I do?’
His tail is always wagging; it was impossible to capture a photo of him with that constantly-moving tail. Such a happy dog. Rabbit is just a darling little boy, looking for a lap. And a nap:) Rescue pets make The Best Companions.

Copper is just one of a a litter of gorgeous, playful kittens, about 3 months old: Jasper (a buff tabby), Copper (an orange boy), Garnet (black) and Nickle (soft blue gray). They’ve all been spayed and neutered and are ready for their new homes. They are currently in foster care, but make regular appearances at the Longview Petco store on Saturdays. They would all love a home for the holidays, somewhere warm and safe, where they could cozy up on a soft bed, or better yet, fall asleep in your arms. Rescue pets make The Best Companions.

Adorable Adopt-ee for September

Need a lap-warmer and furry companion?
“Cessa” is your girl!

Cessa’s life was just about perfect. Until the baby arrived. Cessa wasn’t sure about this tiny creature that made funny noises and took up so much of the time that used to be spent on Cessa. What happened to her quiet environment? Cessa missed all the attention that she received before the baby arrived. And she wasn’t very patient with this two-legged creature that demanded so much attention.
Tearfully, Cessa’s guardian relinquished her to our rescue. She realized it was the best thing for Cessa, to be rehomed where there were not small children to stress her out. Cessa is a gentle little dog who could spend all day sitting on your lap.
Cessa is about 4 years old, is spayed and current on her vaccinations.

Adorable Adopt-ee of July

Meet ‘Chaquita’ mama!
When employees arrived at work recently at a local big box store, they found a banana box, duct taped shut, with several holes poked in the sides. As they neared the box, they heard frantic meowing. This could not be good. When they opened the box, they were not prepared for the pitiful sight that greeted them. A skin-and-bones momma cat and 4 tiny sickly kittens, huddled around her for warmth. What kind of human being does this to helpless animals? It was obvious that momma cat had done her very best to care for the babies, and the lack of food and water had taken it’s toll on her body. You could count every bone.
Our rescue was called, and we immediately rushed them to a local Vet clinic, where they were given subcutaneous fluids to rehydrate them. They had Upper Respiratory Infections, and were given antibiotics. Two of the little kittens were so weak they couldn’t even hold up their heads. An emergency call went out for a foster home. We were blessed by the response, and placed the little family with a registered nurse, who hand-fed the little ones every 2 hours, and made sure they had their antibiotics on time. How lucky we were to find this woman.
Now the little family is healthy, the kittens are playful and energetic. Momma cat Chaquita now has beautiful long silky hair. She’s still a bit on the thin side, but with continued good nutrition, she will be soon be ready to appear of Cat Fancy magazine; she’s a beauty! And she has a sweet disposition. There is one female kitten still available – Chunk – who has a unique smoke-color coat. If you’d like to adopt both momma Chaquita and her darling kitten, come by Petco and meet them.

‘Shasta’ needs a home
By Georgia Butterfield
Shasta is looking for a family that loves to hike and camp and explore the beautiful Pacific northwest. He’s a young boy, under 2 years of age with lots of energy to burn.
Shasta’s an athletic dog, and would be the perfect jogging partner. He’s eager to please and knows basic obedience (sit, down, shake). He would be a perfect candidate for advanced obedience training like Canine Good Citizen or Rally.
Shasta is neutered and current on his vaccinations. He’s ready to hit the trails this weekend…..what are you waiting for:)

Beautiful Anya – looking at her, you do not realize what her circumstances were in her ‘prior life’ and how far she’s come. If you look at her closely, however, you will see the sadness in her eyes. We received a call from a homeowner; he had a stray cat in his back yard that ‘kept having litters of kittens.’
He was tired of having to ‘dispose’ of the kittens! We immediately set out to bring this poor momma cat (whose babies kept ‘disappearing’) into the safety of our rescue. She had become very unsocial toward the homeowner; and who could blame her?
We coaxed Anya into a carrier, took her to warmth and safety of a foster home, where she has now been spayed and brought current on her vaccinations. She’s still very skittish and has a difficult time trusting humans. Anya will approach you when you’re sitting near her, but if you reach for her, she skiddadles away.
She has come a long way, however, she still has a long way to go. Anya needs a patient owner, one that can invest the time necessary to demonstrate to this gentle girl that she can trust again. Might that be you?
Valley Bugler readers have provided forever homes for many of our animals – thank you!!
