Meet ‘the man’ behind Newrock Homes and get the scoop on their new location

January 1, 2012 by Sandy Allen · Leave a Comment

I can honestly say that I am not sure that I know anyone who works as hard as Eric Pucci.
Not only is he a Businessman, he is a true entrepreneur with a servants heart.
Owner/Builder of Newrock Homes, Inc. & Designated Broker/Owner of RE/MAX Premier Group, Pucci has a natural “eye” for opportunity and is not afraid of failure. Newrock Homes recently relocated to their newly remodeled office building at 842 Washington Way, Suite 150 in Longview, WA. (A new venture that Pucci is looking forward to here is a “hand-pressed” martini bar with upscale appetizer menu, on the north end of the Washington Way property. Keep an eye out!)
It goes beyond talent, hard work and a “can-do” attitude to be a respected & successful leader and businessman, as Eric Pucci is known for.Pucci
Being the humble man that he is, Pucci states that 100% of his success (personally & professionally) is directly attributed to the support he gets from his beautiful wife Joanne, and the people he has surrounded himself with.
Pucci feels blessed to share his success with those that are by his side.
“Our parents raised us to make a conscious decision about the people that we associate ourselves with, and that really resonated with me as I got older” he says.
Moving to Longview from New York in 1990, Pucci had quit school to go to work. However, his Mother talked him in to going back to school and getting his diploma. After doing so, he went to work for Coprintco here in Longview and eventually obtained his real estate license.
In 2006 Pucci took on a partner and Newrock Homes, Inc. was born, building over 100 quality homes their 1st year!
In 2008, Pucci bought out his partner, and their reputation as a “quality” home builder continued growing, causing them to become the most sought after builder in the area.
“Thank goodness for technology, otherwise I’d need a good pair of running shoes to keep up with him,” says Shirley Osborne, Administrative Secretary for Newrock Homes, Inc. & RE/MAX Premier Group.
One of many comments shared by a satisfied customer reads as follows:
“As a Building Chief Engineer on (2) 52 Story “Class A” High Rise Buildings in downtown Los Angeles, my demand for quality workmanship is always a high expectation.
I commend Newrock Homes for taking this huge challenge working with someone out of state with limited supervision and was able to build my “Dream Home” without any flaw.
All of this could not have been accomplished without the superb supervision, vast knowledge and attention to detail by the Newrock Team on site and performed by all the different trades brought in to take part in constructing my “Dream Home”. You can be assured, that by having Newrock Homes build your “Dream Home” to your specifications, that you can be proud to show Family and friends the final product.”

—Joe Q., Pierce County WA
The Cowlitz County Contractors Association recognized Newrock Homes, Inc as Builder of the Year in both 2009 and again in 2010.
In 2008 Pucci also made the decision to buy the local RE/MAX Real Estate franchise from then Broker, Carolyn Levno, and became the Designated Broker of the now RE/MAX “Premier Group”. Many of the same 15 Real Estate agents at that time are now Brokers still operating in his office today due to his positive employment practices.
Pucci and his family are also heavily involved in the community, serving on the board of Habitat for Humanity (Cowlitz County). Newrock Homes participates by donating free labor; drawing of blueprints and roofing those homes. Pucci’s wife, Joanne also serves in the Junior Service League and The Progress Center, as well as chairing the 2011 Festival of Trees. Eric and his wife Joanne have been married for 18yrs and live on a farm in Silver Lake with their 2 daughters, Mercedes & Alexis and raise Belted Galloway cattle.
When asked what his “why” is in life, Pucci said “ I want to leave a legacy for my children.”
If you are considering new construction(or remodeling the one you are in) Newrock Homes will not build you a house, they will build you a Home.
And if you are considering buying or selling any type of Real Estate, the team at RE/MAX Premier Group will be there for you every step of the way.
You will find them both in their new location at 842 Washington Way, Suite 150, in Longview WA.

Your four footed family member is sure to return home dog tired and ready for bed after a wonderful romping day with the pack at Paradise Dog Ranch! O’Neill says “Let your Dog run with the pack!”

‘Cruise for the Cure’ – a car show that aims on saving lives.

September 1, 2011 by Sandy Allen · Leave a Comment

Cancer.
It’s one of the most dreaded words a person can hear at any age in this life.
It was 1996 when Kim Walters found herself struggling with grief that followed both her parents’ deaths, within 15 months of each other, from cancer.
She cried out to God for help.
In answer to her prayers, the Lord breathed a vision for the New Hope Cancer Recovery Ministry into her heart. Out of her own brokenness came something beautiful and healing that has helped literally hundreds of people.
Today, Kim is the Director of New Hope Cancer Recovery.
If you, or someone you love has been diagnosed with cancer, there is hope.
Hope through medical advances in treatment, caring physicians and staff and through an emotional and spiritual support group.
Hope based in Faith.
Kim facilitates the New Hope support group, encourages people over the phone and meets with new people over coffee.
Frequently, she visits the hospital, the Hospice Care Center and Women’s Health Pavilion. Road trips to other cities are also made when needed.
In the New Hope support group, every member becomes her friend. She rejoices with and supports them in whatever medical reports they receive from their physicians.
Family members sometime struggle with how to realistically cope in the face of a cancer diagnosis in someone they love, and the support group helps address these hard questions.
It is Kim’s desire to “help family members and friends stay connected to their loved one during their illness.”
Because Kim stayed connected to her parents during their cancers, it taught her ways to make this journey less painful for relatives and friends. With the loving support of her husband, Jeff, she has the help to continue in her ministry.
To know Kim is to love her. She is a woman after God’s own heart and it shines through her and her actions of caring for others every day.
Kim acknowledges that the Lord has provided her with super-natural strength many times.
“He gives me the strength to stand up and talk at funerals after losing one of my precious members”, says Kim Walters, “God gives me everything I need in order to minister to others.”
She finds healing in sharing their stories and celebrating the lives of her dear friends because each one means so much to her.
There have also been many, “victory” stories of healing that Kim is happy to share with someone needing a “lift” of encouragement on their own journey.
We grow through crisis. The New Hope Cancer Recovery Ministry offers new and positive ways to think and respond in the midst of any crisis.
New Hope members learn to think beyond their circumstances by doing things together as a group such as:
~Participating in the Relay for Life to raise funds for cancer research.
~Annual Terry/Taylor Garage Sale in August using a variety of ways to raise money and cancer awareness.
~Hosting the annual “Cruise for the Cure” (since 2007), a classic car, truck and motorcycle show on the last Saturday in September on Commerce Avenue in downtown Longview.
For patients going through treatment, their families and friends, a New Hope support group can be a lifeline of strength and encouragement.
So, if you, or you know someone who is facing cancer, we would encourage you to contact Kim at (360)425-7978 or kimmerz21@msn.com
You will be blessed and she would be honered to assist you and your loved one on your journey.
The Cruise for the Cure can only be made possible by the many generous people involved, and of course, sponsors. It is only with them that the show is a great success, drawing hundreds of spectators each year.
And it’s no wonder – all of us are affected by cancer in some small way, shape or form.
New Hope Cancer Recovery’s proceeds from this years show will be used to purchase new hats, scarves, medications, gas cards for those who have to travel, etc. Hospice will benefit as well, including Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. There will be designated funds sent to Ronan’s Foundation. Ronan Thompson passed away shy of his 4th birthday. He was honored at last years show. This year the show will be in memory of him along with two ladies from New Hope who passed away recently, Becky Bingman and Lynn Heston.
Please see the Cruise for the Cure ad on page 2! Donations accepted.

Get ready for the RETURN of the AMA Grand Nationals!!

June 1, 2011 by Sandy Allen · Leave a Comment

Valley Bugler Newspaper
This year will mark the first return of the AMA Grand Nationals at Castle Rock since 2006.
There you are screaming around the race track just inches from your fellow racers and there’s no comfortable seat or reassuring seat belt to hold you in place.
It’s just you, the bike and everyone else all going as fast as possible. That’s why motorcycle racing is absolutely thrilling to watch.
Among all the different styles of motorcycle racing, flat track is perhaps one of the most exciting.
Flat-track racing is conducted on a dirt surface, so if you like sprint or modified cars, flat track is your kind of sport.
Riders slide both wheels around every corner with their foot on the ground and the throttle held wide open. (See the beginning of a race pictured at right. Photo courtesy Mount St. Helens Motorcycle Club, info online: www.mshmc.org).
If that sounds like fun to you, then you’re in for a real treat as the 2011 AMA Grand Nationals returns to the Castle Rock fairgrounds August 6th 2011.
Thanks to the Mt. Saint Helens Motorcycle Club, at the track in Castle Rock, Wash., the American Motorcycle Association will host the 2011 Grand National TT flat-track series for the 1st time since 2006!
Electro Inc. of Vancouver WA announced plans to sponsor the 2011 Grand National TT taking place at Castle Rock Race Park. The National competition scheduled for Aug. 6th  puts four years in the making, design, and programming to the test.
Electro Inc. has donated to the Mount Saint Helens Motorcycle Club, that will help to cover costs for this professional event and plans to bring this long standing venue back to the Pacific Northwest.
“Electro Inc. has a strong history of supporting all levels of flat track racing”, said Paul Simonsen, of the Mount Saint Helens Motorcycle Club.
Electro Inc. has sponsored AMA Grand National events before, along with riders like Chris Carr and having tuners like Mert Lawill.
Competitors from across the country will converge to the Castle Rock Race Park on Speed Week, Aug 4th,5th & 6th.
“When we heard about the National competition at Castle Rock Race Park, we wanted to step in and do our part to ensure that these competitors of now and the future had an opportunity to compete and share their talents for the Pacific Northwest Spectators,” said Jack Schiefelbein, President of Electro Inc.
Electro has been rebuilding LeTourneau equipment and components for over 25 years.
“We are honored to establish this renewed collaboration with Electro Inc. and the opportunities that it presents,” said Scott Bergman, president for the Mount Saint Helens Motorcycle Club.
In order for the United States to remain competitive in a vibrant nationwide innovation and environment, all of us must get engaged in the effort to excite, encourage, and prepare our fans, riders and sponsors.
The 2011 schedule features 22 dates in 17 markets across the country with a mixture of Short Track, TT, Half-Mile and Mile dirt tracks.
Castle Rock is an historic venue that has hosted some of the most exciting AMA Flat Track races from 1960s through the late 1970s.
The 1979 Castle Rock TT, when local hero Brad Hurst crashed on the first lap, then proceeded to make a charge from last to first, is one of the all-time classics in AMA racing history!
In 1981, the devastating eruption of Mount St. Helens buried the famous track for a few years, and was later rebuilt, and hosted even more nationals.

The Flower Pot Celebrating 40 years of business!

May 1, 2011 by Sandy Allen · Leave a Comment

By Sandy Allen
Congratulations to Sue Mott Pulse and the crew at THE FLOWER POT! Sue & her crew are celebrating their 40th year of being the #1 Florist in Castle Rock on May 1st, 2011.
The Flower Pot originated in Sue’s Aunt’s shop behind its current location in 1971.
She was only 17 years old when Sue Mott Pulse joined the family team as The Flower Pots first delivery girl.
The Flower Pot relocated to it’s current location in 1980 “while the mountain was blowing up!” joked Sue Pulse.
By 1983, Pulse was working full time and found herself becoming more and more passionate about the business. So much so that in 1993, she bought it outright.
The next decade demonstrated very little staff turnover, which is reflective of the family atmosphere that Pulse has created in her flower shop.
Sherry Mosteller has been with her since 1987, along with Chris Cherrington, Amy Bobst, Linda Kautz & Debra Galletti.
Pete and Burley Mott (Pulse’s parents) have also been known to pitch in on busy holidays, helping with deliveries and all the other craziness that ensues on days such as Mothers Day or Valentines.
Sue will tell you that her children, Kasey, Dallas & Abbey grew up in the shop learning the business right alongside with her.
You could potentially find 4 generations of The Flower Pot family in the shop, at the same time, pitching in, defining the true meaning of family business.

From Great Grandpa & Grandma Mott clear down to her Grandchildren, Sue feels blessed with success, and continues to shower her love into the business. The Flower Pot provides floral beauty for Holidays, Graduations, Anniversaries, Births, Proms or Just Because, to anything in between.
Join The Flower Pot family for their 40th Anniversary Open House event May 1st.
See their ad on page 17 in this months issue of The Valley Bugler for more details and information.
The Flower Pot can be reached by calling (360)274-6503 or 1-888-703-3274 and is located in Castle Rock at 1254 Mt. St. Helens Way, just off I-5 Exit 49, on the right as you head up towards the mountain.

What’s up with the Fish?

May 1, 2011 by Sandy Allen · Leave a Comment

By Sandy Allen
I have been wondering what’s up with the creative and colorful fish hanging out on the fence on Pacific Way & Ocean Beach Hwy?
A quick call to my friend Erin Hart, the Development Director at Three Rivers Christian School, solved the mystery!
“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men,” -Mark 1:17 (NIV)
This quote, straight from “The Man” himself, was the soul inspiration for this TRCS Student Council project.
In an effort to beautify the Three Rivers Christian School campus and support school activities, the TRCS Student Council is sponsoring the new artistic installation on the Pacific Way fence line.
Brightly painted salmon-shaped silhouettes are being affixed to the fence, following a much larger “lead” fish, upon which the phrase “We Are Fishers of Men” is painted.
The community and school families are encouraged to sponsor a fish for $25, which will go directly into the Student Council budget to fund projects benefitting the elementary school campus.
The fish are painted by Student Council volunteers as an art project, but suggested design and color choices will be accepted and creatively applied.
Sponsors will have the option to have their name printed on the bottom of their fish or choose to remain anonymous.
You can pick up your “We Are Fishers of Men” Project Sponsorship Form at the Three Rivers Christian School office located at 2610 Ocean Beach Hwy. INFO:

Superman had foster parents

April 1, 2011 by Sandy Allen · Leave a Comment

By Sandy Allen & Jeanmarie Moore
A dear friend of mine has always referred to foster parents as being “the true heros in our world”.
It’s true, and Greg & Jeanmarie Moore, of Longview, are perfect examples.
Not only is Jeanmarie a foster parent, she is a Liason and Retention Specialist for the Cowlitz Wahkiakum Families for Kids organization.
Families for Kids provides guidance and educational support to local Foster Parents.
Jeanmarie and her husband Greg already had 7 children of their own when they became foster parents.
Their story will move you.
In 2004, Nicolaus, just 3 months old, came to the Moore family.
He had been born 12 weeks early, after his mother, a heroin addict, took a combination of heroin, cocaine and benzodiazepine called a “speedball”.
He had spent the first 3 months of his life in the NICU. His mother, still heavily into her addiction, visited infrequently, and didn’t participate in any of his care.
Jeanmarie says, “When he came to us he was…well, odd looking. His head was much too big for his tiny body. His skin was a funny yellowish/green color, and you had to hold him at an odd angle to feed him.
Soon after they took him home, they found out he was deaf.
Nic was diagnosed with a rare syndrome which included a heart defect, renal anomalies, and spinal and neck fusions which caused his rather large head to grow lumpy and misshapen.
He had terrible reflux which caused him to have frequent hospitalizations for pneumonia and he wheezed constantly. He took 4+ medications on any given day.
Nic needed his first surgery the first month they had him.
They were told Nic would probably never sit up, crawl, walk or live a “normal life” and was “developmentally delayed”.
As Nic’s birth mother struggled with her addiction, it became apparent that although she loved her son, this baby needed a mother who could care for both him and herself.
As time for Nic’s permanent placement planning meeting drew near, the Moores knew this baby boy was going to need a strong family.
So, Greg and Jeanmarie approached all seven of their children, asking them if they thought their family could be that strong. Focusing on their older children, they explained to them that this child may need lifelong care. Responsibility which would eventually fall to them when they themselves passed on.
It was without any hesitation that each and every one of them responded with a resounding “YES”!!!
“That little, lumpy, schlumpy, green-yellow, wheezy baby had wheedled his little spirit into our hearts” says Jeanmarie.
Born from the hearts of the Moore family, Nic is living proof of the power of family & unconditional love.
Nicolaus Tiberius Moore is now in the first grade at Washington State School for the Deaf.
Not only does he walk and talk, he can read, write and is fluent in American Sign Language.
Nic recently told his Mama “I have 1st grade skills!”
If you have ever considered making the difference in the life of a child, let a local foster parent guide you.
Upcoming Foster Parenting classes are being held at the Children’s Services Office at:
711 Vine Kelso, WA 98626
Foster Parent Orientation will be held April 7th and “PRIDE” (preservice training) classes will be held April 9th & 10th. For more information contact Monica Davis at Families for Kids:
(360)430-1510.
A final thought from Nic’s adoptive mother, Jeanmarie Moore, serves as a powerful example to us all:
“We never told him what the ‘experts’ said, therefore he is able to do most of what they said was not even possible”.
