When you walk in the door at Elam’s Home Furnishings & Sleep Center in Longview, you more than likely will be greeted by Rob Elam, owner and proprietor. Their slogan “We’re Locally owned and We’re here to stay!” is stenciled across one of the main walls of their beautiful showroom.

“The walking trails are getting popular, with the exercise equipment right there on the trail. It’s free to do whenever anybody wants, that’s the neat thing about it,” said NCRA President, Joe Godinho, who also owns and operates Four Corners Farm and Garden in Castle Rock.

It just doesn’t seem right that the schools are starting up again. Especially not with the “un-summer” that we experienced this year! You all know what I am talking about, because I’ve heard you say it!

To look on the bright side, at least we were able to experience days on end of beautiful sunny weather (after 2pm) and the gardens finally started producing, although later than normal. Read more

Under new management, The “Spaghetti” Works is now run under the careful direction of Rick and Jenny Lord. Many people remember the “Old Spaghetti Works”, which was turned into “The Works” Restaurant in recent years.

“We’re taking it back to the old-school Spaghetti Works menu items, with a fresh new twist and contemporary options, including vegetarian, gluten free and Lean and Green,” said new manager Rick Lord.

Okay, I have to admit that I have stayed away from the Twilight series as long as I could. Add yet another one to the long list of those who were sucked into its intriguing storyline and lovable characters. (Pun fully intended ☺

An avid reader, I usually can not find time to read in the summer months, what with so many fun things going on. Somehow I managed, and I think it was because the clock was striking an ungodly hour while I was on the couch reading!

With three small children, the idea of reading a novel by the pool becomes just that, an idea. I’m sure that there will be a season in life where novels will seem a boring pasttime, but I’m not at that season right now! Read more

Wafting smells of sweet, smoky, barbecued goodness assaults the air evening after evening these days. YES! Summertime has finally arrived!

Regardless of the dreary waterlogged June, I think that the Northwesterners that we are have rebelled and begun summer ourselves. I see BBQ’s under porches and covered areas smoking with delectable treats anyways.
