In 1980 when Mount St. Helens blew her stack, I was in San Diego wishing I were flying above the mountain capturing the event on film. In 1994 when I found myself here in the shadow of the great lady, I was mesmerized by the stark beauty of the blast zone, and amazed at the ability of our planet to heal.
