With today’s high unemployment rates, some college graduates who don’t have jobs wonder how they will pay their student loans.
There are programs to help them through the lean times, but their experiences make parents wonder if a college education is still worth the cost.
Stories are circulating on the Internet about unemployed students who paid or borrowed $50,000 a year and now owe a six-figure debt. Those high tuition prices were charged by only 58 colleges last year, according to the Chronicle of Higher Education. That’s a tiny percentage of the nation’s 1,700 private four-year colleges. Those who attend pubic institutions pay average tuition of about $7,000 per year, according to a report by the College Board.

The problem comes as you approach age 50 and move beyond that milestone. People who may not have gained a pound have decreased muscle mass and increased fat stores, especially at the waist. Scientists say belly fat secretes proteins and hormones that contribute to inflammation, interfere with how the body processes insulin and raises cholesterol levels.

Local resident creates organic sweet treat – Gelato!
November 1, 2010 by Crystal Martin · Leave a Comment
“Gelato simply means frozen, and in Italy they used to use almonds and sorbets, but it’s a gelato,” said Heather Bishop, owner of Bishop’s Vegan Gelato.
You might call it vegan ice cream, or gelato, I simply call it delicious. I had the opportunity to sit down with local resident, Heather Bishop, and learn about her delightful creation. George Washington Mural Restoration in Centralia
The City of Centralia announced that Todd Watson, owner of Spectrum Painting, will begin a project to restore the George Washington mural displayed on the Key Bank Building (on Pearl St.) While most of the 14 murals created in the late 1900’s were painted directly on buildings, the portrait of Centralia’s founding father was painted on wood panels. Dry rot was recently discovered, and the painting itself is showing its age. Part of the mural will be removed so the work can be done in Spectrum Painting’s shop. Spectrum Painting is donating all labor and material for the project, and the City is grateful for Todd Watson’s generosity.
