Elam’s is still on Commerce!
September 1, 2010 by Michelle Myre
When you walk in the door at Elam’s Home Furnishings & Sleep Center in Longview, you more than likely will be greeted by Rob Elam, owner and proprietor. Their slogan “We’re Locally owned and We’re here to stay!” is stenciled across one of the main walls of their beautiful showroom.
Lots of people thought that Elam’s was retiring for good, but that just wasn’t so, said Rob Elam.
“When my dad retired, we ran a retirement sale. That was a bad idea. Now we just want people to know that I’m running the store now, dad’s retired and we’re still here,” said Rob Elam in a recent interview.
Undergoing a facelift since Rob has taken over, Elam’s now sports a beautiful new maroon awning and new paint and interior design within the showroom.
According to Rob, he is taking it back to higher quality pieces and name brands, such as focusing on La-Z-Boy, FlexSteel and Ashley, to name a few.
Elam’s is a family owned operation, and ensures that your experience will be extremely positive. All of the staff are very knowledgeable and helpful with recommendations or suggestions as needed. While I was there, someone was returning a borrowed swatch of fabric, and a quick discussion turned out that it would be best to bring in the pillows to which the fabric was to be matched.
Fabric choices, colors and options abound at Elam’s. We purchased our Sofa and Loveseat set at Elam’s well over eight years ago. It looks brand new, and we have three small children, who are not easy on furniture, let me tell you!!
That just goes to show the testimony of quality that Elam’s offers, and the flexibility of choice. I wanted to get blue courderoy type couches with creme pillows to match on a particular style of couch, and so I did.
I know they are having a huge recliner sale right now, starting at $199, as advertised on page 2 in this issue. Their selection is very relaxing to try out, and you have your choice of swivel, non-swivel, reclining and everything in between.
Bring your fabric swatches in to match, or you can take some home to view in your own lighting.
Visit Elam’s today just to look around if you aren’t in the market just yet – and remember that they are alive and well on Commerce Ave in Longview. Go say Hi to Rob – he’d be glad to show you around.
