Based on the canceled Prime-Timers potluck, “The Gathering” rose from the ashes and began holding the potluck meals with inspiring music following. Now being held at Toutle School, The Gathering is open to all people ages 55 and older.

The Toutle Lake “Fear Not” club from Toutle High School sponsors this fun social evening each month! Their mission: to make the whole older generation feel honored and appreciated.

The Fear Not kids host the event, help serve food and drinks, and clean up afterwards. The Fear Not club varies between 20-30 high school students during the year. Leann Couch started this group up quite a few years ago, and Paddy Burrow is serving as Advisor this year while Leann takes a sabbatical to rest.

The last meeting in February was ended with a survey to hear some anonymous feedback by the seniors attending.

“We had a great survey with wonderfully positive feedback,” Paddy sang. “The adults said they enjoyed the interaction with the kids, and they did really great. I think that the Fear Not club accomplished their mission!”

“The Gathering” just started in January 2010, and are happy to welcome any adults 55 or older. There’s no need to RSVP, just show up at 5:30pm and you’ll be finished by 7:00pm!

In March, the theme is “Ethnic Foods” — remember, this is a potluck event, so you can be creative if you want to with your dish, and we’ll all enjoy some wonderful music and conversation time following the food! Hope to see you there!
