Why you may want to consider Girl Scouts of America

‘On my honor, I will try:
To serve God and my country,
To help people at all times,
And to live by the Girl Scout Law.’
On Wednesday, January 20th, eight little ‘Brownie” Girl Scouts recited the ‘oath’ above. Being as my oldest little girl was a part of the troop, I couldn’t miss it for the world! ![]()
Once every two weeks, Troop #40021 meets in a school room at Three Rivers Christian school in Longview. Eight little girls get together with their Troop leader, Marie Erickson and work and participate in activities and crafts that involve learning new skills, responsibilities and build character traits.
Good ones!
I was thrilled when Chloe announced that she wanted to be a “Brownie” - grades 1st through 3rd grade. I immediately dug through my stuff to find my (ahem) twenty some odd year old Brownie outfit, complete with beanie and leg tassles! (Thanks mom!)
Although Chloe chose to forego the beanie and leg tassles, she did proudly wear my old jumper and shirt. I loved it.
Girl Scouts of America is a wonderful organization that place young girls in “an accepting and nurturing environment, where they build character and skills for success in the real world. In partnership with committed adult volunteers, girls develop qualities that will serve them all their lives, like leadership, strong values, social conscience, and conviction about their own potential and self-worth.”
Check on your daughter’s school campus to see when and where they meet - and find the joy and benefits of Girl Scouts of America for yourself!
