From the Editor’s Desk - January 2010

January 1, 2010 by Michelle Myre

Happy NEW Year! Another year has arrived, and with it comes anticipation, change and good intentions! There is something fresh about January, isn’t there? A time where you feel that you can maybe make some things different in your life.

I know that’s what it feels like to me, especially after the Christmas season holiday hustle and bustle. Here in the Northwest it feels more peaceful, relaxed and gives off that “freshly scrubbed face” feeling.

We’ve left the “Ott’s”! No more “Ott Nine”, we’re now in year “Ten”!! What are you doing this new year?

Some of you know that I joined up with the MediFast ‘Take Shape for Life’ health program in order to lose this blasted baby weight that puts leeches to shame for the way it clings and clings…

Thus far, I am two weeks into the program and have lost almost ten pounds! I am thrilled with the inches that I have trimmed off my belly and thighs, though. That’s the hardest part for me to get rid of, and it’s simply melting away as time goes on.

My health coach is great, and really helps me through challenging times. Some of her other clients have had much larger obstacles than just twenty pounds! One of her clients lost over 165+ pounds!!! Holy moly!!

If you are ready to lose the pounds, and learn healthy eating habits, then you should consider joining up with the Take Shape for Life program. It’s about $10/day for the food, and the Health Coach is included. My favorites include the Maple & Brown Sugar oatmeal, Cappuccino and Wild Rice & Chicken Soup. The stuff isn’t really all that bad once you get into a routine. Anyways, that was one of my goals this Christmas season - to lose 20 pounds because we are going to Mexico this January for my brother’s wedding. You can imagine my dismay at thinking of my “hibernating self” in a swimming suit…

Anyhow, we have a fantastic “Start the New Year Right” section, starting on page 10, with tips, tricks and various opportunities you can utilize in reaching any new goals you might set for yourself this year, and the center of the paper highlights some businesses with special offers this New Year! A new bike shop, salon discounts, health & beauty stores and lots more - you will enjoy seeing what these local businesses are offering this new year!

There is one thing that I am absolutely NOT looking forward to this year is my best friend and her family moving to Missouri. I’ll talk more on that one in the next issue. Decidedly, I am not handling that well. It’s a great opportunity for me to adjust my attitude, isn’t it?

Well, I guess that’s what January’s are for. Whatever you are looking to “adjust” this January and New Year, I pray that you are successful. Take one step at a time, and set your goals at levels that you can reach - and you will succeed! I know you will.
