From the Editor’s Desk – November 2009
November 1, 2009 by Valley Bugler
I love peanut butter. Mainly, I love peanut butter slathered all over chocolate. Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups are my absolute favorite, followed by Heath Toffee Bars at a close second.
But I was pleasantly surprised to discover that this month was National Peanut Butter Lover’s Month!
I have never had a whole MONTH to celebrate myself, so I was quite tickled to hear that November is now my month to party.
It’s not just National Peanut Butter month, folks. It’s for the LOVERS! Are you a Peanut Butter Lover? You can join me in my celebration of the delicious goodness at our Ten Year Anniversary party! The tables will be strewn with Peanut Butter Cups in honor of this special month.
My mouth is simply drooling at just the thought of devouring even one delicious morsel. Yes, I love peanut butter! Hard to believe it’s already November, though!
I guess time flies when you’re busy, right? Yet it has been so full of good memories and lots of fun and giggles.
Speaking of fun and giggles, we are fast approaching that “wonderful time of the year” where turkeys are carved, named and devoured; christmas lights strung across fragrant boughs and little kids start dreaming of that special day in December!
This issue is full of highlights and articles that feature Thanksgiving and Christmas. We have a delicious Apple Butter recipe found on page 9, or, there is the “roots” of Thanksgiving explained on page 8. Great for teaching young children why we do “what we do”!
If you are more in the mind of stringing up those Christmas lights and then flipping the switch once you’ve eaten your Thanksgiving Feast, you will appreciate our article about melding two decorating themes, and how to do it safely in the process – found on page 24.
With the pennies being pinched this year more than ever, a Bazaar might present a wonderful opportunity to purchase all of your gifts in one fell swoop. Bazaars always offer local vendors, handmade items and crafts that are affordable. Sometimes you can even barter the price – all you have to do is ask courteously if they are willing to come down in their price. Most vendors are if you are purchasing multiple items!
Check out the complete and entire list of SW Washington Bazaars, found on page 7. Compiled from CowlitzToday.com – you can go online and find detailed descriptions of the Bazaars.
Here’s wishing you a joyous Thanksgiving and beginning of the Christmas season, where many of us may not have much in the way of “material items”, but we celebrate our abundance of family, friends and love that surround us!
Shop local. Shop smart.
Until next month,
