First Thursday and artistic happenings around the area

Notice that we have some new activities happening in our community.

  1. There is a new arts group – For the Love of Art – that is meeting on the Fourth Thursday of each month.
  2. There is a jazz jam session every other Sunday afternoon at Nikki’s in Kelso.
  3. There is a series of lectures at the Cowlitz County Historical Museum.

First Thursday – November 5

  1. 1. Broadway Gallery, 1418 Commerce, Longview

    The feature artists are Trudy Woods, pottery, Carol Boudreau, watercolor and acrylic paintings, and Dan and Elsie Noble, porcelain and stoneware.

    Reception: 5:00 – 7:30pm. Live Music by Mike Woods and Tim Janke

  2. Longview Public Library Koth Gallery, 1600 Louisiana, Longview

    Friends of the Library Book Sale. No Reception: Open until 8:00pm.

  3. LCC Gallery at the Rose Center, 15th & Washington, Longview

    College Archive Exhibit: A Legacy of Learning. (Exhibit runs November 5 – December 15; Opening Reception is Thursday, November 12). No Reception: Open until 7:00pm.

  4. Museo at the Merk , 1339 Commerce, Longview

    Irene Harrison is the featured artist.  Scott McRae will be giving free lessons for children. They will be learning to draw with charcoal. All supplies are included.

    Reception 5:00 – 7:00pm. Live music by John Henry.

  5. Teague’s Interiors Mezzanine Gallery, 1267 Commerce, Longview

    Featuring Celebrating the Trinity – paintings, batiks and sculptured originals by Wendy Kosloski and Jeff Jolly. (Exhibit runs until January 3.)

    No Reception: Open until 7:00pm.

  6. Cowlitz County Historical Museum, 405 Allen Street, Kelso

    Aprons: The Tie That Binds -  a sharing of aprons and memories.  As the museum shares its apron collection, come share your own favorite apron.  Your apron might win a prize! Program begins at 7:00pm.

Opportunities

Call for Authors: Cafedoom Writing Competition. Authors are invited to submit very dark short stories that may have elements of anything from sci-fi to pulp fiction. Prizes for top three stories.
