Fireside chat with Santa!

November 1, 2009 by Jeanette Mahoney

My grandchildren were dressed in their Christmas finest. They looked so cute and they were excited as they came up the driveway. They knew they would be talking to Santa and telling him their wishes for Christmas. We greeted them at the photography studio door and took their coats. They were talking a mile a minute and wanted to know if Santa was there.

We told them that Santa would be coming soon but they could come in and see the set that we would be taking photos of them with Santa on. We had a newly painted backdrop that was a beautiful dark blue with spots like snow falling all around.

There were long needled fir trees with glimpses of snow on the branches and a bench set in pretend snow. They were checking it all out when suddenly they heard some jingling bells ringing but it seemed far away, but they got louder and louder, then Santa was walking into the studio.

The look of amazement crossed their little faces. Three year old Seamus was beaming from ear to ear but hiding behind his mom a little. Santa said “ho, ho, ho” and then greeted all three by name. What excited kids we had! They talked with Santa for awhile. Then we steered the conversation to some things they could do with Santa while we took their pictures. We had a plate with cookies for them to give to Santa. All three sat on the bench and waited with the cookies while Santa peeked in at them from behind the tree. And of course the camera was clicking away.

Each of the kids got to have time with Santa. Molly had been practicing reading “The Night Before Christmas” book to read to him. Santa enjoyed it so much there were tears in his eyes. Patrick told him all about the different Transformers he had and which ones he needed. The kids AND Santa had a wonderful time.

We are having Santa come to our Kelso studio again this year! This is a Limited Edition photo shoot – that means it is only offered at a certain time and won’t be available again until next year! November 14th and 15th have been reserved for our wonderful Santa. We have only 16 reserved times available on a first come first serve basis.

We allot a full hour for each family to have with Santa. Last year some of the children read him a book, I even saw Santa down on the floor playing blocks with a little boy.

If you would like to reserve a time for your child to talk with Santa while we record memories that will last forever, please give us a call. 360-431-0271.

I’m sure I don’t know all of the fun things to do or places to take kids in our area – if you have a suggestion and we use it in an article you will receive a prize. Logon to our website and fill in the suggestion box. Past articles are listed there as well. www.gottabefun.com/bugler.htm
