Shaggy – October 2009

Shaggy has not had an easy life. His owners left him with neighbors several months ago as they went house-hunting out of state.
They promised to return. They never did. They just left him behind, and went on with their lives.
Shaggy was confused; where were his people? He’s received lots of TLC in his temporary home, but he needs a permanent family. And he needs medical care.
In addition to his abandonment, Shaggy has medical problems that some people say would make him unadoptable.
He has a condition called luxating patellas; his knees are unstable and require surgery to give him a better quality of life. He’s only 18 months old, and has a long life ahead of him.
He also has an eye condition called entropion, where the eyelid turns inward and the lashes have contact with the cornea, causing damage.
Poor Shaggy – how uncomfortable he must be. This condition should be treated as soon as possible, before any damage occurs.
Does Shaggy have a future?
We think so. He’s such a gentle, lovable dog – he deserves a long happy life. As soon as we can have his medical issues corrected, he will be ready for adoption.
We are a small rescue and, unfortunately, do not have the funds for the surgeries that Shaggy needs.
Is there a Guardian Angel that will give this ‘shaggy dog story’ a happy ending?
