“Best Christmas Movie Sound-Off”

December 1, 2008 by Erich Reich

Let’s start with holiday movies! Last year I gave you my favorite holiday/Christmas movies of all time including ‘Santa Claus v. the Martians’ (MST3K version), ‘Elf’, ‘Love Actually’, ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’, and of course the classic ‘Die Hard’.

I received a few responses from readers, such as ‘Home Alone’.

This year, I want enough responses from you to have a conversation about which is really the best Holiday/Christmas movie of all time!

Is it ‘A Christmas Story’ or maybe ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’? Let me know what you think so we can put to rest the debate as to which will reign supreme. You can now post your comments for everybody to see at the new web site!

I hope everyone’s holiday season will be stress free and filled with lots of good food and good friends. Merry Christmas!!

So, onto movie reviews! My life has been crazy in the last month! My wife and I just sold our condo and have been in the process of closing. If any of you out there have been through that, it is a long and paper filled process! It’s for the best though, but that means that we haven’t had much time to go watch movies! (Oh the HORROR!!) All that being said, I did have enough time to squeak in a viewing of the new James Bond flick ‘Quantum of Solace’.

This film is a direct sequel to the 2006 film ‘Casino Royale’. This is the first time in the 22 movie history that Bond is on the same adventure as a previous movie. ‘QoS’ begins where Royale left off. Bond was hunting down the members of an unknown group that have their fingers in everything and everywhere. Bond now has to figure out if he is motivated by revenge or duty to his country. Does he kill everyone to get what he wants or does he use them to bring down the organization that killed the woman he loved?

With lots of action packed into a tightly edited two hours, you have to pay close attention to all the details of the plot. Go to the bathroom, and you’ll have to see it again just to pick up what you missed. I highly recommend seeing this movie in the theatre because of the experience of seeing the car chases, explosions and hand to hand combat! I think it would be a good idea to watch ‘Casino Royale’ before you see this movie, just so you can reacquaint yourself with the cast of characters. Oh, and did I mention that the CIA wants Bond captured or dead? Hold on to your seats and enjoy the ride that is ‘Quantum of Solace’.

See you at the movies this Christmas season!

    Hey Vern, It’s Ernest!
My bet is for “Ernest Saves Christmas”.

A little known fact: The “P” in Ernest P. Worrell stands for Power Tools.
