Always held at the Castle Rock Senior Center, and with a hot pot of coffee brewing, your Chamber Board meets and discusses the ‘happenin’s of Castle Rock. Here’s a little taste of went down at the August 8th meeting:
Election of officers—Hearing no additional nominations from the floor the following slate of officers was approved: President-Coni Bush, Vice-President Mike Vorse, Treasurer-Sharon Traub and Secretary-Myron Nelson
Scholarship—Castle Rock High School graduate, Curtis Johnson was introduced and was presented a certificate stating he received a $500 scholarship from the Chamber of Commerce. Curtis shared with the members that he will be attending Washington State University and will major in history. His goal is to be a history teacher at a high school or college.
STP Breakfast—The STP Breakfast was considered a successful fund raiser. It was suggested that we would need less meat if the Chamber does this again in 2009. More coffee pots would help. Those who volunteered to serve the breakfast were thanked for their help.
Logger’s Dinner—The consensus was the dinner, the entertainment and the weather were great in making it a successful evening. It was suggested thank you notes be sent to all those who furnished the food.
Parking—Chief Heuer addressed the recent letter that was given to the city council from the Chamber in regards to the two-hour areas parking on Cowlitz Street. Chief Heuer said they have changed the way they have checked parking. They will revert back to the chalk stick.
