Pleasant Hill Grange Cleans Up Local Historic Cemetery

July 1, 2008 by Valley Bugler

Pleasant Hill Grange #101 had several members, one Pleasant Hill Jr. Granger along with two community members participate in a cleanup of Tucker Cemetery.

This small pioneer cemetery is located about a mile from Pleasant Hill Grange and we were informed it is not in a cemetery district.

When we first discovered this tiny, forgotten, overgrown cemetery we came to realize that is it the final resting place of the first Master of Pleasant Hill Grange #101.

After several hours of loving labor everyone went back to Pleasant Hill Grange where Grangers Gloria Starcher and Jean Bowen had prepared a great lunch.

If you are ever in the neighborhood, and want to see a neat old cemetery, please stop by. Take some paper and pencils or colored chalk to do some rubbings.

It is a great place to teach about the history of our area, learn about the different lifespans and ages of individuals that once lived in our own area.
